Changing from ADp Mode to DATAPHONE II Mode

To change from ADp mode to DATAPHONE II mode, execute the Change Protocol Mode (chpm)
command from the NMS Manager task to the control modem at the head of the tree. This modem
is the only one to which you may issue this command. The NMS issues a subnetwork abort to the
control modem using the current mode address of that device. Then, NMS determines the new
link-level address of the control modem. Therefore, if the original link-level address had been:
The new address would be:
After converting the link-level address, the control modem then broadcasts the change in mode to
its downstream modems and begins to poll all devices on its poll list using the new protocol.
NMS edits the Device Profiles for all devices on the tree to reflect the following:

4. Update the trouble ticket database records, if you wish, to reflect address differences. In
particular, the trouble ticket and alert databases contain records that are keyed to a device's
previous mode address. New trouble tickets and alerts are keyed against the device's new
address. Automatic Trouble Report (ATR) records that are in process and tracked to the old
device address, however, remain keyed to the original address. The historical database also
reflects the old address.

the default port address of 1 has been added.
NMS checks the network address of every device on the diagnostic
tree to make sure that no device has a network address value
greater than 80. If a device's network address falls beyond this
range, NMS alerts you and terminates the conversion without
making changes. Change the network address of the designated
modems and reissue the Change Protocol Mode (chpm) command.

Since the control modem changed its address, all link-level
addresses on the diagnostic tree are updated to reflect this change.
In the conversion of the link-level address from the advanced mode
long-form address to the DATAPHONE II short-form address, the
alternate mode address in the device profile is used.
