To allow the mode conversion to be done correctly, NMS uses the Alternate mode
address field. If a device is in DATAPHONE II mode, and its link-level address is in
short-form, populate this field with the long form link-level address. The alternate mode
address should be maintained along with the device's link-level address. If the link-level
address changes, edit this field. During the mode conversion process, NMS automatically
changes the link-level address and updates this field.
Activates or deactivates polling on the control channel for a device. In ADp mode, this
field is ignored for all devices except local control modems. In DATAPHONE II mode,
extended polling to devices downstream of the local control device may be necessary in
some configurations. In this case, enter extended poll in this field and the system will
poll these devices separately.
In DATAPHONE II mode, local control devices must be in CC active mode, and devices
on extended polling must be in extended poll mode. In ADp mode, no extended polling is
used. Only local control devices are polled on the control channel.
Collect (Appears only for model# 3811 local carrier-mounted 3800 Series devices)
Valid entries are yes, no. Entering yes causes a summary to be kept of the
number of calls for a period of time.
Store call detail (Appears only for model# 3811 local carrier-mounted 3800 Series
devices)
Valid entries are yes, no. Entering yes causes the reason for disconnect to be
stored (i.e., device name, duration, speed, disconnect cause).
Site and vendor profiles are generic and do not have any modem-specific information.
These profiles are used to describe and place the site location for each device, and to
describe and store information about vendors. For additional information on these
profiles, refer to the COMSPHERE 6800 Series Network Management System
User's/System Administrator's Guide.
Facility profiles are used within NMS to store information on the physical connection
between devices and to allow for the representation within the network map of these
connections. For example, facility profiles can be used by the service restoration products
to represent the following types of facility connections:
• APL modem to dedicated AB
• APL modem to dedicated DBU
• APL modem to Service Restoration Carrier via an SRCU device
• AB to AB, when a second AB is being used to extend the capacity of the first
• DBU to AB
