The ambient lighting which accompanies the Park-
ing Assist PARKTRONIC display is only intended to
accentuate the display in the central display and
does not replace it.
More information on ambient lighting:

A display message for the ambient lighting
does not occur in the area of the driver's dis-
play or in the rear passenger compartment.

Depending on the selected setting, other
functions may supersede the ambient lighting
effects of Parking Assist PARKTRONIC. In this
case, the ambient lighting effects of Parking
Assist PARKTRONIC do not occur.
System limits
Parking Assist PARKTRONIC does not necessarily
take into account the following obstacles:
Obstacles below the detection range, e.g. per-
R
sons, animals or objects.
Obstacles above the detection range, e.g.
R
overhanging loads, overhangs or loading
ramps of trucks.
Pedestrians or animals approaching the vehi-
R
cle from the side.
Objects placed next to the vehicle
R
Obstacles on the sides are not shown in the fol-
lowing situations, for example:
You park the vehicle and switch it off.
R
You open the doors.
R
After the engine is restarted, obstacles must be
detected again by driving past them before a new
warning can be issued.
Also observe the system limits of the following
systems:
Rear view camera (
page 272)

360° camera (
page 274)
/
R
Observe the information on vehicle sensors and
cameras; the system otherwise cannot function
properly (
page 225).

Vehicles with towbar: If a transport device, e.g.
trailer or bicycle carrier, is attached to the towbar
and the electrical connection is correctly estab-
lished, PARKTRONIC Parking Assist is deactivated
for the rear zone.

Problems with Parking Assist PARKTRONIC
If the Parking Assist PARKTRONIC display lights
up red for approximately three seconds then goes
out, and the é symbol appears in the driver's
display, the system may have been deactivated
due to signal interference. Start the vehicle again
and check if Parking Assist PARKTRONIC is work-
ing at a different location.
If a warning tone also sounds, it may be due to
one of the following causes:
The sensors are dirty: clean the sensors and

observe the notes on care of vehicle parts
(
page 385).

Parking Assist PARKTRONIC has been deacti-
R
vated due to a malfunction: restart the vehi-
cle. If the problem persists, consult a qualified
specialist workshop.
