PREPARE MACHINE FOR MAINTENANCE

Before performing the maintenance procedures given in the
following chapters, park the machine as described below, un-
less otherwise specified.
1. Park the machine on a level surface.
2. Lower the bucket to the ground.
3. Turn the auto-idle switch off.
IMPORTANT: The turbocharger may be damaged if the en-
gine is not properly shut down.
4. Run the engine at slow idle speed without load for five
minutes.
5. Turn the key switch OFF. Remove the key from the key
switch. (If maintenance must be performed with engine
running, do not leave machine unattended.)
6. Pull the pilot control shut-off lever (1) to the LOCK posi-
tion.
7. Before performing any work on the machine, attach a "Do
Not Operate" tag on the right control lever.
