Purging

If there is need to remove any gas contaminants from inside of the device, it may be purged using
gases, such as air or nitrogen. Process purging is recommended for every installation to prevent
flange windows clogging.
Purge tubing diameter should be 6 mm (0.25 in) depending on the device variant.
Recommended purging gas flows:
For sensor purging:
For process purging:
There are three possible areas where purging may be introduced:
• Receiver/emitter unit enclosure
• Receiver/emitter tube
• Process side
It is crucial to ensure that the purging gas does not contain any constituents of interest since
it will affect the measurement and device stability. When using compressed air, make sure it
fulfills at least purity classes [2:3:3] according to ISO 8573-1:2010, recommended Class 2 or
3. Bad quality of purging gas may affect the measurement or even damage the analyzer.
