Chapter 5: Using Policy Manager to Configure Your Network

Starting a New Configuration File

To start a new configuration file:

From System Manager, click the Policy
Manager button, shown at right.
The Policy Manager appears.

From Policy Manager, select File = > New.
3 From the New Firebox Configuration
dialog box, select the model of Firebox you are
connected to.
The new configuration file contains defaults for the model
of Firebox specified.

Setting the Firebox Configuration Mode

For information on routed and drop-in configurations, see
"Selecting a Firewall Configuration Mode" on page 28.
You must decide upon your configuration mode before set-
ting IP addresses for the Firebox interfaces. If you specify
an incorrect IP address, you may run into problems later.

Setting IP Addresses of Firebox Interfaces

The way you set the IP addresses for the Firebox interfaces
depends on the configuration mode you have chosen.
