The size of the subject in the screen can be
changed. Use "zoom-in" for dramatic close-
ups [a]. Use "zoom-out" for panoramic long
shots [b]. Also use zooming to focus manually
or to decide the shooting angle. Rapid
zooming can be effected by keeping the power
zoom button fully depressed. (K-1)
Smooth and Constant Zooming

Keep the T side of the power zoom button
lightly pressed for telephoto (subject appears
closer) [a] and the W side for wide-angle
(subject appears farther away) [b].

fully depressed for telephoto [a] and the W
side for wide-angle [b].
Focal length of this camcorder
The focal length is 7 mm to 42 mm (9/32 to 1 11/16
inches). This means approximately 50 mm to 300
mm {2 to 11 7/8 inches) when converted into the
focal length of a 35-mm camera.
For more zooming effect
Use the Sony VCL-0637 or VCL-1437 conversion
lens (not supplied). If you use a 46 mm conversion
lens, attach it using the supplied step-up-ring. Auto
focus, however will not function in that case.
When shooting with autofocusing
When you press the power zoom button for wide-
angle, the focus ring will be fixed around the 2m
position and may not exactly match the actual
object-to-camera distance.
