8-6. Adjusting the thread trimming cam timing

WARNING :
To protect against possible personal injury due to abrupt start of the machine, be sure to start the
following work after turning the power off and ascertaining that the motor is at rest.

1) Let the sewing machine fall down.
Loosen setscrews ❶ (1-needle: 2 positions,
2)
2-needle: 4 positions) of the thread trimmer
cam.
3) Turn the handwheel to bring the needle bar to
the lowest dead point of its stroke.
At this time, the thread trimmer cam roller ❷
aligns with the marker line A on the thread trim-
mer cam ❸ .
Make the thread trimmer cam ❸ come in close

contact with the collar ❹ , then tighten set-
screws ❶ (1-needle: 2 positions, 2-needle: 4
positions) of the thread trimmer cam.
5) Raise the sewing machine.
When thread trimming timing is retarded :
・ Thread trimming action does not complete even
at the needle-up stop position. As a result, defec-
tive thread trimming will be caused.
When thread trimming timing is advanced :
・ Defective thread trimming will be caused.
・ Length of thread remaining on the needle after
thread trimming cannot be secured. As a result,
needle thread may slip off after thread trimming
or at the start of sewing.
・ Stitch skipping at the start of sewing will be
caused.
