ENGINE MALFUNCTION
DIAGNOSTIC LAMP CODES
When an engine malfunction is detected, the engine will
shut down and a fault code will be indicated as a flashing
pattern on the Preheat lamp.

The engine fault code flashing patterns consist of a
combination of one or more long flashes and one or more
short flashes. Refer to Table 12 for a list of fault code
flashing patterns and the associated countermeasures.

Solution
Adjust engine speed.
Check engine oil level
and switch.
Inspect or replace engine
alternator/voltage regulator.
Make sure routine service
has been performed, and
check the thermo switch.
If the problem persists,
contact the Service
Department for repairs.
Check wiring,
replace sensor.
Check wiring,
replace fuel solenoid.
Check wiring or
replace sensor.
Check wiring. Check or
replace battery and engine
alternator.
Check or replace voltage
regulator and battery.
