Earthing the Gateway

The gateway must be earthed to a stable local earth earth reference. The gateway's earth
terminal should be connected thought a separate earth wire (6 AWG recommended) to the
rack's earthing. The earth connection's resistance must not be greater than 0.1 ohm. Verify
that the rack's earthing is properly done.
Earthing provisions for the Media Gateway 3500 are located on the Power Entry Module
(PEM) panel, as shown in the figure below. There are two earth connectors situated
immediately to the right of each DC power connector or to the left of the AC power
connector. The chassis is supplied with earth lugs and screws.
The screw size is ¼ inch. The lug diameter is 0.63 inches.
To connect the earthing, take this step:
On the rear panel of the chassis, for DC, there are two pairs of earthing screws (refer
the figure below showing the DC version); for AC there is one pair of earthing screws
(refer the figure below showing the AC version). To each of these pairs, connect a
two-hole standard barrel type copper lug attached to earthing wire. An example of an
appropriate two-hole standard barrel copper lug is Molex heavy duty terminal
connector #19221-0168.
