314 Maintenance and care
Do not treat matt or structured decorative
R
films with wax. Permanent stains may occur.
Scratches, corrosive deposits, areas affected by
corrosion and damage caused by incorrect care
cannot always be completely repaired. In this
case, contact a qualified specialist workshop.
You can obtain more information on care and
cleaning agents from the manufacturer.
In the case of film-wrapped surfaces, visual differ-
ences may occur between the surfaces that were
not protected by a decorative film after a decora-
tive film has been removed.
%
Have work or repairs to decorative films car-
ried out at a qualified specialist workshop
(e.g. at a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre).
Notes on cleaning and care of the soft top

R
water.

R
and soft-top cleaning agents recommended
and approved for Mercedes-Benz.
Brush from front to back in the direction of the
R
fabric.
Avoiding soft-top damage
Never use petrol, thinners, tar or stain
R
remover or other organic solvents.
Remove bird droppings immediately, as they
R
are corrosive and can therefore cause the
soft-top fabric to leak.
Never use a high-pressure cleaner.
R
Do not use sharp-edged equipment to remove
R
ice and snow.
Frequent cleaning reduces the soft top's resist-
ance to dirt. To restore the effect, clean the soft
top with the soft-top cleaning agents recommen-
ded and approved for Mercedes-Benz.
Incorrect cleaning and care, as well as ageing,
can cause the soft-top seams to leak. If this hap-
pens, have the soft-top seams sealed at a quali-
fied specialist workshop, e.g. at your Mercedes-
Benz service centre.
%
Place a suitable cover over the soft top if you
plan to leave the vehicle outside for a long
period of time.
