Digital inputs/outputs

Readers RF615R, RF680R and RF685R
The RF68xR readers have four digital inputs/outputs, while the RF615R reader has one
digital input/output. The outputs can be configured in the WBM. The request and control
are made via the controller. You can control the addresses of the inputs/outputs via a 1-
WORD subsegment of the process image of the reader/CM. You can enter the addresses
using RSLogix 5000 or Studio 5000 Logix Designer in the properties of the reader in the
parameter "Digital inputs/outputs". You can access the digital inputs/outputs via the
byte with the lower value address.
The structure of this byte and the assignment to the digital inputs/outputs is shown
below:

Communications modules RF186CI and RF188CI
The CI device versions SIMATIC RF186CI and RF188CI have an I/O interface. You can
use this interface either as a single digital input or output or for the connection of an IO-
Link module (e.g. 6ES7143-5AH00-0BL0). The mode is set via the "IO_MODE" parameter
in the parameter variable (see section "Creating a parameter variable (RF18xC/RF18xCI)
(Page 20)").
• "Input" mode: The interface can be used as a single digital input.
• "Output" mode: The interface can be used as a single digital output.
• "IO-Link" mode: An IO-Link module with up to 8 digital inputs/outputs can be
connected.
The digital inputs can be accessed via the cyclic input word "<Device name>:I.Data[5]"
of an RF18xCI module. The digital outputs can be set via the cyclic output word "<Device
name>:O.Data[5]" of an RF18xCI module.
