Monitoring Functions
9.1 Earth Fault
If yes, select:
● The 3UF7500 earth-fault module (in conjunction with the 3UL22 residual current
transformer) or
● The 3UF7510 earth-fault module (in conjunction with the 3UL23 residual current
transformer)
● The multifunction module (only with SIMOCODE pro S basic unit in conjunction with the
3UL23 residual current transformer). With ground-fault detection using the 3UL23
residual current transformer, it is possible to determine the precise residual current as a
measured value, and to define freely selectable warning and trip limits in a wide range
from 30 mA - 40 A.
Note
• The 3UL23 residual current transformer is suitable for detecting pure AC fault currents
and AC fault currents with a pulsating direct-current component.
• Requirement for the use of a 3UF7510 earth-fault module:
Use of this earth-fault module requires a SIMOCODE pro V basic unit with at least
product version *E10* (from 09/2013).
• Requirement for the use of a 3UF7500 earth-fault module:
Use of this earth-fault module requires a SIMOCODE pro V basic unit with at least
product version *E02* (from 04/2005).
Note
Open-circuit voltage may result in death, serious injury or material damage!
The current transformer output is a constant current power supply. In accordance with U = R
* I, the output voltage increases with an increasing resistance. If the connecting terminals of
the current transformer are open, the output voltage may become high enough for you to put
your life at risk or permanently damage the current transformer.
Avoid operating the unit when open. Operating a network for monitoring safely and without
faults requires that the monitoring relay and the 3UL23 residual current transformer have
been installed completely. It is absolutely necessary to short-circuit previously installed
3UL23 residual current transformers when the units are not connected to a monitoring relay.
Note
No personnel protection or fire protection!
The 3UF75* earth-fault modules monitor devices and systems for correct functioning.
They are not suitable for personnel protection or protection against fire.
A definable and delayable response can be parameterized when an earth fault is detected.
An event is generated if the Earth-fault limit is exceeded. You can set additional trippings via
parameterization. If the rated fault currents are exceeded, SIMOCODE pro reacts by either:
● Turning off the contactor controls QE*
● By issuing a warning.
depending upon the configuration you have set.
