Chapter 1 Introduction

This chapter provides an overview of the Scan Kiosk II solution, system requirements for
setting up and configuring the software, the parts and functions of the product, how to enter
characters on the pop-up virtual keyboard, and an overview of the Administrator settings.
1.1

Overview

Scan Kiosk II V2.0 consists of a desktop Windows tablet PC and stand, support for a
specific series of DR scanners, and optional USB keyboard.
Scan Kiosk II provides a Web-based scanning framework and scanning Web service
that enables users of an imageFORMULA DR-G-Series scanner to scan to a shared
folder, e-mail account (if configured), and USB memory.
The tablet PC hosts the Windows 10 operating system, which is accessible to
administrators by switching between the Kiosk and Maintenance modes.
• Maintenance Mode:
IMPORTANT
• Only use this mode if you want to change the network configuration or apply
Windows updates to the tablet PC.
• Be careful when you perform operations in the Windows Admin Mode. Any
procedures that are not mentioned in this guide, may disable the Scan Kiosk II device.
• Kiosk Mode:
IMPORTANT
• Scan Kiosk II requires an Administrator to be authenticated to set up and configure
the product on the Windows tablet PC.
• Scan Kiosk II can be configured at the device, or remotely from a Web browser. If
you are configuring Scan Kiosk II remotely, some screens may differ from the ones
that appear on the local UI. This manual mainly shows how to configure Scan Kiosk
II remotely.
Scan Kiosk II V2.0 Setup and Administrator's Guide
This is also called the Windows Admin Mode. It provides the
System Administrator with full access to the Windows 10
Enterprise OS on the tablet PC.
The end-user can only access the Scan Kiosk II application in
the Kiosk mode.
