To install an operating system

You provide the software to install an alternate operating system. The Recovery CD
provides the OmniBook-specific drivers to configure your custom system. The drivers
for Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, and Windows for Workgroups are located
On the Recovery CD ROM, under \OmniBook\Drivers.
On the OmniBook hard drive under C:\ OmniBook\Drivers.
On the OmniBook website at http://www.hp.com/go/omnibook . This website
contains the latest updates of software drivers.
The Corporate Evaluator's Guide, also available at our website, provides
complete information about installing alternate operating systems, as well as
how to configure the OmniBook in a corporate, networked environment.
Different versions of an operating system require different drivers, so make sure to
select the appropriate driver.
The equipment you need are the OmniBook, its ac adapter, a floppy disk drive, and
a CD-ROM drive. You also need the Support Utility floppy disk. If you have not
already created one, see page 7-5.
Before you start installing a new operating system, make sure the drivers you
need will be accessible after the installation
website or the hard drive to floppy disks, or use the
CD-ROM drive.
1. Connect the ac adapter to the OmniBook.
2. Install the operating system.
3. Install the OmniBook-specific drivers according to the instructions in the
README files that accompany the drivers.
Add the online User's Handbook to your custom installation. See page 7-9.
