"Automatic gearshift" mode
This mode is activated (or deactivated) using switch H; the letters
"AUTO" L will light up inside the gear display and the system will
automatically adjust "upshifting" and "downshifting" according to the
vehicle speed, engine speed and torque/power request of the driver.
To return to manual mode, either request a gearshift or press and hold

button H until the "Automatic" indicator light goes out.
When the vehicle is stopped, requesting "N", 1
from "Automatic" to "Manual" mode.
It is advisable to: deactivate other operating modes before selecting
"Automatic" mode.
"Auto easy exit" mode
The vehicle is always initialised in "Auto easy exit" mode, unless it was
turned off with the gearbox in "Automatic" mode.
When the mode is enabled, the message AUTO
selected gear display on the instrument panel. (see page 28)
The system will automatically shift the gears UP and DOWN according
to the vehicle speed, the engine RPM and the torque/power requested
by the driver.
In "Auto easy exit" mode, if you operate the UP and DOWN shift levers

(when the vehicle is moving) the system will exit "Automatic" mode to
switch to "Manual" mode.
If you then request "Automatic" mode by pressing the AUTO button,
the system will use all the "Automatic" gear-shifting features.
Push start
In the event that the ignition system malfunctions, you can "push start"
the vehicle as follows:

• perform the "System start-up" procedure;
• request an "UP-shift" as the vehicle is gaining speed with the
gearshift in "N".
This procedure should be avoided unless there is an emergency situation!
