Inspecting shock absorber without gas pres-
sure
Faulty shock absorbers can be detected when
driving as a result of rumbling noises - as a con-
sequence of the wheel jumping - particularly on
a poor road surface, and should be replaced.
The cause of the problem is in most cases a
loss of oil. The shock absorber can then be com-
pressed and/or pulled apart suddenly. There is
an „idle travel" before the shock absorber be-
gins to operate.
Note:
Shock absorbers require no maintenance. It is
not possible to top up the shock absorber fluid.
