D-1

Updating an Existing Max-ON RX3i Application

If you have a Max-ON RX3i application that was created using an earlier version of Max-ON
RX3i software, such as version 3.04, you must update the Max-ON Drivers in your
application to take advantage of issue resolutions in later versions. A Machine Edition
Toolchest drawer is provided on the Max-ON RX3i Software Release CD to aid in the upgrade
process.
To upgrade an existing Max-ON RX3i application, perform the following steps:

Backup the Application
Back-up your Max-ON RX3i application using the Backup feature in Machine Edition.
1. Make certain that all projects are closed so that only the current projects are
2. Select the project that is to be backed-up. (In this example it is 06Feb17_DPCS.)
Updating an Existing Application
Adjust the target's Ethernet I.P. address to match the address of the Backup
PLC. (Or if using a serial connection, connect to the programming port on the
Backup PLC.)
Download (Logic only) the target named PLC_COMMON_CODE into the
Backup PLC.
Place the Backup PLC in RUN Mode.
Go offline.
Switch Mastership so that the current Backup becomes the Master.
Adjust the target's Ethernet I.P. address to match the address of the Backup
PLC. (Or if using a serial connection, connect to the programming port on the
Backup PLC.)
Download (Logic only) the target named PLC_COMMON_CODE into the
Backup PLC.
Place the Backup PLC in RUN Mode.
