OCCUPANT RESTRAINT SYSTEMS
Parts of the airbag module (steering
D
wheel hub, airbag cover and inflator)
may be hot for several minutes after
deployment of the airbag, so do not
touch!
The windshield may be damaged by
D
absorbing some of the force of the in-
flating airbag.
To minimise the risk of serious injury
D
it is important for the occupant to:
avoid placing any object or part of
D
the body between the occupant and
the airbag module,
sit straight and well back into the
D
seat,
wear the available seatbelt properly,
D
and
sit as far as possible from the airbag
D
module while still maintaining con-
trol of the vehicle.
CAUTION
The driver or front passenger who is too
close to the steering wheel or dash-
board during airbag deployment can be
killed
or
seriously
strongly recommends that:
The driver sit as far back as possible
D
from the steering wheel while still
maintaining control of the vehicle.
The front passenger sit as far back as
D
possible from the dashboard.
All vehicle occupants must be proper-
D
ly restrained using the available seat-
belts.

cerning the seating position, see "Front
seat precautions" on page 46 in this
Section.

CAUTION
Extreme Hazard! Do not use a rearward
facing child restraint on a seat protected
by an airbag in front of it! This is be-
cause the force of the rapid inflation of
the front passenger airbag can cause
death or serious injury to the child.
Vehicles with a front passenger airbag
display a warning label on the pas-
senger side instrument panel as shown
above, and on the driver's side sunvi-
sior to remind you not to put a rearward
facing child restraint system on the
front passenger seat at anytime.
