Total Parameter Values
The total parameter value contains the sum of all of
the 15-minute intervals up to 96 intervals. The total
value is updated every second as the current
15-minute bin is updated. Up to 24 hours worth of
information can be stored within the total parameter
value items.
Application Verification
Each application image located on the TSI-MUX card
contains a product identification number and CRC-32
value. The product identification number and CRC-32
are verified upon each hard and soft reset of the
TSI-MUX.
If an invalid image is detected, then the alternate
image is loaded. The invalid image is marked and
will be overwritten during the next software
download. When both internal application images are
corrupted then the TSI-MUX will illuminate the
Power LED Red and the LED will remain set
indefinitely. The card must be returned to the factory
when both internal images are corrupted to reprogram
the internal flash memory.
Protection Switching
The Total Access 3000/3010 shelf provides the
capability for two TSI-MUX cards to be configured in
a redundant mode. Only one multiplexer has control
over the access module interfaces at any given
instance. This redundant configuration provides a 1:1
protection with automatic switch over with no
intervention from the System Controller Unit. The
automatic and manual switch over time will cause a
data interruption for a duration of less than 60 ms.

The protection switching feature may be controlled
through the management interface or through control
buttons located on the front panel of the TSI-MUX.
The protection switching feature may be disabled
through the front panel buttons or through the
management interface. A manual protection switch
can be performed if an alternate TSI-MUX is detected
through the front panel buttons or through the
management interface. The TSI-MUX that is currently
carrying data is indicated through the active LED on
the front panel of the TSI-MUX.
The automatic protection switching feature uses
several hardware and software conditions to determine
whether a protection switch is required. If a failure is
detected in the online unit by the offline unit a
protection switch is performed; this includes the
removal of the online unit.
The automatic protection switching feature is
compliant with BellCore GR-253 specification.

4. MENU STRUCTURE

The following subsections of this Installation and
Maintenance Practice document the menu structure of
the TSI-MUX. A menu tree is provided in Figure 2 to
be used as an aid in navigating the menus. All menus
are generated by the TSI-MUX, and are accessed via
the System Controller Unit.
