The TSI-MUX allows for the provisioning of one
in-band management channel. This channel may run
in either Transparent or Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP)
mode. In Transparent mode, the TSI-MUX provides
only a physical connection between a DS0 and the

TSI-MUX and the SCU. In PPP mode, the TSI-MUX
will negotiate a PPP session before sending traffic
over the HSMC. The PPP layer will only negotiate
the default options, which are defined in RFC 1661.
