5 At the Start Installation/System display, select Start Installa-
tion, then select Install Linux from Scratch.
6 Following the installation, when asked to select the kernel,
select the kernel with SMP-support or select the standard kernel.
7 When Lilo is finished installing and the confirmation window
appears, do not continue. Press Ctl-Alt-F2 instead.
8 Proceed to the following section, "Set up the system so driver
will load on boot".

Set up the system so driver will load on boot

1 Insert the 3ware driver installation diskette for SuSE and type in
the following:
/ # mkdir /mnt2
/ # mount -t msdos/dev/fd0 /mnt2
If you are on a non-SMP system, type:
/ # cp /mnt2/***/initrd /mnt/boot
If you are on an SMP system, type:
/ # cp /mnt2/***/initsmp /mnt/boot/initrd
2 Unmount and eject the 3ware Software Installation diskette from
the floppy drive by entering the following:
/ # umount /mnt2

Edit the lilo.conf file

1 Edit /mnt/etc/lilo.conf. Note that to use vi, you must first set the
LD_LIBRARY_PATH
/ # export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/mnt/usr/lib
/ # /mnt/usr/bin/vi /mnt/etc/lilo.conf
2 In the lilo.conf file add the line, initrd = /boot/initrd after the
line, image = /boot/vmlinuz.
image = /boot/vmlinuz
initrd = /boot/initrd
