Averages in Progress when Instrument Is Powered Off
The iDAS is capable of averaging data parameter samples over very long time
intervals. If the instrument is powered off in the middle of the averaging interval
and before the average is recorded in memory, the samples accumulated so far for
that time period are lost. If the instrument is powered back on during the same
averaging interval, the iDAS begin averaging samples from that point onward until
the scheduled end of the averaging period.
Example:
A data channel is configured to make one measurement every minute and to record
the average of these measurements in 1-hour increments. If the instrument is
powered off 10 minutes the 10 readings taken are lost.
If the instrument remains off for 10 minutes before being powered back on, the
data channel will either:
Accumulate 40 samples over the remainder of the hour period if HOLDOFF is
turned OFF;
Or
Resume recording after 30 minutes if HOLDOFF is turned ON and take readings
for the last 10 minutes resulting in an recorded average for that hour based on
10 readings.
If the instrument remains stays off past the end of the current hour the recorded
average will only be based on the 10 readings already taken. Subsequent readings
will be averaged into the next operating hour's record.
In each case, the number of readings included in the average is also recorded by
the data channel.

Table 6–21: iDAS Data Parameter Functions
Instrument-specific data point name.
INST: Records instantaneous reading.
AVG: Records average reading during reporting interval.
MIN: Records minimum reading during reporting interval.
MAX: Records maximum reading during reporting interval.
Decimal point precision for display purposes (0–4).
If ON, stores the number of samples in each average for only this
parameter. If OFF, stores only the average. This property is really
only useful when the AVG sample mode is used.
