RSTi-EP Standalone CPU with embedded PROFINET
Controller using MRP
Figure 17 shows one RSTi-EP CPE100/CPE115 embedded PROFINET Controller that uses a
PROFINET I/O network with MRP ring topology. CPE100/CPE115 LAN2 Port 2 & Port 3
support Media Redundancy and on configuring MRP as Manager / Client LAN2 Port 4 can be
used for connecting Simplex PROFINET devices or any other Ethernet Protocols such as
Modbus, SRTP, and EGD. Use of MRP ring topology is recommended because it eliminates
the I/O network as a single point of failure. If elimination of a single point of failure is not
required, a star topology can be used.
