%NaCl Percentage
In this scale 100% salinity is equivalent to roughly 10% solids.
If the reading is outside the range, the full-scale value (400.0%)
will be displayed blinking.
Natural Sea Water
The Natural Sea Water scale extends from 0.00 to 80.00 g/L.
It determines salinity based upon a conductivity ratio of sample to
"standard seawater" at 15 °C.
where:
R
is the conductivity ratio
15
C
(sample) is uncompensated conductivity at T °C
T
C (35, 15) = 42.914 mS/cm is the corresponding conductivity of
KCI solution containing a mass of 32.4356 g KCl/1 Kg solution
r
is temperature compensation polynomial
T
Salinity (S) is defined by the following equation:
S = – 0.08996 + 28.2929729R
Note: The formula can be applied for temperatures between
10 and 31 °C.
