8. Troubleshooting

Alert Sounds

The machine notifies you with an alert sound when a paper jam occurs, the original is left on the
machine, or another problem occurs. Listen to the alert sound for one of the patterns described below,
and perform the required procedure accordingly.

Sound pattern
A short beep
A short beep, followed by
long beep
A long beep
Two long beeps
Five long beeps
(repeating four times)
Five short beeps
(repeating five times)
Condition

Solution
-
• If you entered an incorrect
password, enter the correct
password.
• If you hear this sound when
touching an icon or key, you do
not have permission to use the
function or setting. Log in to the
machine as a user with
permission, or consult your user
administrator.
Check the operation result.
The machine is ready for use after the
machine is turned on or recovers from
the sleep mode.
Check that an original is not left on
the exposure glass and that paper is
loaded in the paper tray.
Check the message displayed on the
screen, and resolve the problem by
removing the jammed paper or
original, or replacing the toner.
