Connecting a network management station to the switch

The management port on the Passport 8691SF Module is a 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet
port implemented on an RJ-45 connector wired as an MDI connection. You can
use this port to connect the switch to a network management station for
out-of-band management of the switch using a Web browser or Device Manager.
The port has its own IP address but does not switch traffic to other ports in the
chassis.
To connect a UTP cable to the management port:
Insert the cable into the RJ-45 receptacle connector on the Passport 8691SF
Module.

Note: For 10 Mb/s connections, you can use Category 3, 4, or 5 copper
unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable. Use only Category 5 UTP cable to
connect ports that will operate at 100 Mb/s.
