With a TCP/IP connection, an assigned number for identifying devices on
a network. IP addresses exist in IPv4 and IPv6 formats.
A number for subdividing a network when using an IPv4 IP address. The
range of IP addresses assigned to devices can be limited by the user.
The address of a device serving as a gateway for communication
between different devices. In general, a router is a gateway by default.
A service providing name resolution for matching host names (domain
names) with IP addresses via a server.
Basically a doorway, where an IP address is like a street address. Assigning
port numbers allows for increased security.
The PC, software, etc. that handle HTTP communication with devices
outside the network as a proxy, mostly for browsing websites, etc.
