Attach the change lever to the shifter
fork. Use parts in this order; bolt, washer,
compression spring A, washer, change
lever, shifter fork, washer, U nut. Do not
fully tighten U nut at this time.

Next attach the bottom hole of the
change lever to the protruding arm of the
gearbox cover using bolt, washers, and U
nut.

Tighten U nut to the bottom bolt, but be
sure that the change lever is able to
move smoothly. Do not overtighten U nut.

Tighten U nut on upper bolt so that 3
threads are visible coming out of the U
nut.
[5]
Check that the change lever is securely
installed and operates smoothly at each
position. Adjust U nuts if necessary.

Wear of bearings due to frequent usage and
invasion of water may damage bearings etc.
and prevent smooth movement of the rear
roller bracket. Inspect and replace the parts
such as the bearings.
Make sure that the housing does not have

any chap or crack.
Make sure that there is no wear or damage

of the shaft.
Make sure that there is no wear or rust of
・
the bearing.
Make sure that there is no play in the fit of
・
the shaft and the bearing.
Important
The rear roller bracket Assy has a specific
direction.
Confirm its direction.

Remove the left and right rear roller bracket
Assys from the main body.
See "Removal of rear roller Assy" (Page
4-20) .
