Complete the following steps to install the front operator panel.

Step 1.
Insert the front operator panel into the front of the lower compute tray.
Note: The operator panel connector housing with the side retaining clips remains attached to the
operator panel. The operator panel cable slides into this housing.
Step 2.
Connect the operator panel cable to the front operator panel. Make sure the operator panel cable is
folded beneath the connector, as shown in "Cable routing for common components" on page 42 to
prevent the cable from pinching when the compute tray is fully assembled.
Step 3.
Press the front operator panel in until the locking tabs engage.
Step 4.
If you are replacing the operator panel cable, route the front operator panel cable to its connector
on the lower system board and connect it. See "Cable routing for common components" on page
42.
After you have installed the front operator panel:
1. Make sure that all cables are correctly routed. See "Cable routing for common components" on page 42
and "Cable routing for drives" on page 45.
2. Install the lower fan cage. See "Install a fan cage (lower tray)" on page 128.
3. If you removed an upper system board or system board filler, install it. See "Install a system board" on
page 111.
4. Install the compute tray; then, install the front cover. See "Install a compute tray" on page 117 and
"Install the front cover" on page 132.
