Raise the deck struts and secure them in the
up position.

Slide the deck out to the right side of the
machine.
Replacing the Grass
Deflector
WARNING
An uncovered discharge opening could
allow the lawn mower to throw objects in the
operator's or bystander's direction and result
in serious injury. Also, contact with the blade
could occur.
Do not operate the lawn mower unless you
install a cover plate, a mulch plate, grass
deflector or bagger.
1.
Remove the locknut, the bolt, the spring, and the
spacer holding the deflector to the pivot brackets
(Figure
104).
2.
Remove the damaged or worn grass deflector
(Figure
104).

Place the spacer and the spring onto grass
deflector.
4.
Place one J-end of the spring behind the deck
edge.
Note:
Ensure that one J-end of the spring is
installed behind the deck edge before installing
the bolt as shown in
