Operating the Ignition
Switch
1. Turn the ignition key to the S
(Figure 17).
Note:
When the engines starts, release the key.
Important:
Do not engage starter for more
than 5 seconds at a time. If the engine fails
to start allow a 15-second cool-down period
between attempts. Failure to follow these
instructions can burn out the starter motor.
Note:
Additional starting cycles may be
required when starting the engine for the first
time after the fuel system has been without fuel
completely.
2. Turn the ignition key to
engine.
Using the Fuel Shutoff
Valve
The fuel shutoff valve is located under the seat. Move
the seat forward to access it.
Close the fuel shutoff valve for transport, maintenance,
and storage.
Ensure that the fuel shutoff valve is open when
starting the engine.
