Platen Gap Adjustment

This adjustment sets the gap width between the printhead nozzle surface and the platen. Perform this
adjustment after reinstalling or replacing the CR guide shaft, CR unit, or parallelism adjustment bushings.
The correct platen gap width is 1.26 ± 0.02 mm.
1. Set the right and left parallelism adjustment bushings to the middle of the adjustment range.
2. Place the thickness gauges at the positions illustrated in Figure 4-1.
3. Turn the left parallelism adjustment bushing according to the directions in Table 4-2 until the gap is wide
enough to insert a 1.24 mm-thick gauge but too narrow to insert a 1.28 mm-thick gauge (See Figure 4-2
on the following page).
To make the Platen gap:
Narrower
Wider
4. Use the same procedure to adjust the right parallelism adjustment bushing.

Place the thickness gauge under both printheads.

Before moving the CR unit, set the PG adjust lever to "+" to open the platen gap.
