Error Conditions

If any of the conditions listed below are detected, the printer goes into error status:

The CR moves abnormally. (Fatal error)

Paper ends or is jammed.

The release lever position is inappropriate for the paper path currently used.

No ink cartridge is installed or the ink runs out.

Maintenance is required.
While the printer is in error status, the /ERROR signal is LOW and the BUSY signal is HIGH. During these
conditions the printer accepts no data and automatically pauses.

Notes:
1. "  " means no effect.
2. To recover from a fatal error, turn the printer off and back on, or send the /INIT signal after eliminating the
trigger.
3. A maintenance request occurs when the waste ink fills to capacity, and servicing is required. To clear the
error status, perform an EEPROM reset. (See Table 1-28. Panel Functions when pressed simultaneously
with Power On, Chapter 2 and Chapter 3.)
4. Refer to Table 1-29 for detailed conditions indicated by the Media type LED indicators.
