4.1.1 Platen Gap Adjustment

This adjustment is performed to obtain the appropriate gap between the head nozzle surface and the platen.
It must be adjusted after removing or replacing the CR guide shaft, CR unit or parallelism adjustment
bushing. The specified value for the platen gap is 1.16 ± 0.02 mm.
1.
Set the right and left parallelism adjustment bushings to the middle of the adjusting range.
2.
Place the thickness gauge as illustrated below.
(See the flowchart in Page 4-3.)
3.
Turn the left parallelism adjustment bushing to make the gap large enough to insert a 1.14-mm gauge.
Make sure that a 1.18-mm gauge does not pass through. (Table 4-2 shows the directions for turning the
bushings to change the platen gap.)

4.
Use the same procedure to adjust the right parallelism adjustment bushing.
;
The platen gap is adjusted based on the black printhead. Therefore do not insert the thickness gauge
under the color printhead.
;
Open the platen gap by turning the platen gap to the "+" side before shifting the CR unit.
