BASIC FUNCTION
For basic operation of the servo amplifier, respective functions are explained in this section. Set each function as required. For
advanced operation of the servo amplifier, refer to the following.

Precautions
• To prevent a malfunction and machine damage, on the first operation after setting, check the operating condition with a low
speed command.

Outline of servo parameter and object dictionary

On MR-J5 servo amplifiers, functions of the servo amplifiers are set with servo parameters, and objects enable
communication of data such as command values and feedback values with controllers.

Servo parameter

For the servo parameters that update data periodically in the cyclic communication, do not write a value with
the engineering tool or others, as the values will be overwritten from the controller.
Each function of the servo amplifiers can be set with the servo parameters. The servo parameters are stored in the non-
volatile memory in the servo amplifier, and are set for the initial value in the factory setting. Change the setting with
engineering tools or others as necessary.
The servo parameters related to the basic functions explained in this manual are shown as in the following example.
When the servo parameter name is "Travel direction selection" and No. is "PA14"

In addition, the servo parameters in which the symbols are preceded by * are enabled by the following conditions.
• *: After setting, cycle the power, or reset the controller.
• **: After setting, cycle the power.
For servo parameters that select a function with each digit in hexadecimal, the detail number is indicated on each digit.
The detail number at the far right digit is shown as [Pr. PA01.0]. In addition, when a servo parameter is set with a combination
of multiple digits, the servo parameter is shown with "-" as in [Pr. PA01.0-1].
The following shows a notation example of a servo amplifier, in which the number is PA01 and setting value is "FEDCBA98" in
hexadecimal.

Outline
The rotation direction of the servo motor or the travel direction of the linear servo
motor can be set.
