Encoder communication diagnosis function

This servo amplifier is loaded with a function to diagnose the failure of the differential driver/receiver used for the encoder
communication circuit.
By inputting the diagnostic signal number to the encoder communication circuit, an error on the differential driver/receiver is
detected.
An encoder communication alarm is caused by many factors including a servo amplifier failure, an encoder failure, encoder
cable disconnection, and noise, and therefore it takes time to identify the alarm cause. This function determines if the alarm is
caused by the servo amplifier failure, and this helps identify the alarm cause promptly.
Whether the encoder
communication circuit has
a failure can be diagnosed.
Servo amplifier
Control
microcomputer
• This function cannot be used when the A/B/Z-phase differential output encoder is used.
Precautions
• If other than a two-wire type encoder cable is used, diagnose the encoder communication circuit with the encoder cable
disconnected to prevent the encoder and the servo amplifier from malfunctioning.
• Remove the encoder cable with the power supply of the servo amplifier turned off.
• MR Configurator2 is required for this function.
• [AL. 118 Encoder communication circuit diagnosing] occurs when the encoder communication circuit diagnosis is in
progress.
• For the absolute position detection system using a direct drive motor, if the encoder cable is disconnected, the absolute
position will be erased because power will not be supplied from a battery.

Method of use [G] [WG]

To enable the diagnostic mode, set "1" (enabled) in [Pr. PC05.4 Encoder communication circuit diagnosis mode selection] and
cycle the power. Remove the encoder cable at power off. During diagnosis mode, [AL. 118.1 Encoder communication circuit
diagnosis in progress] occurs. Perform the diagnose in accordance with the display shown on the encoder communication
circuit diagnostic screen of MR Configurator2.
