1-1 Assembling & Connecting
1-1-1 Connect the Phone Line
Following the diagram, connect your SF 2200 in either of two ways:
• Plug one end of the line cord into the LINE jack on the SF 2200 and the other end into a telephone
wall jack.
• If you have a multi-line telephone, plug one end of the line cord into the LINE socket on the SF 2200
and the other end into a jack on the multi-line phone system.
Notes :
• If you install this unit in an electronic or digital telephone system or PBX, it may not operate correctly.
To use the SF 2200 on such a system, you may have to contact your local telephone company and
have them install a separate line that bypasses this equipment.
• May modern office buildings feature identical wall jacks for telephone lines and data lines for
computers. If the computer terminals in your office plug into wall jacks, make sure that you plug
your SF 2200 into a live telephone jack, not a data jack.
1-1-2 Choose Tone or Pulse Dialing
When the SF 2200 is switched off, the T/P switch determines whether the unit will perform tone or
pulse dialing. This switch is set to T (tone) at the factory, and needs to be changed only if you need to
use pulse dialing for voice calls with the SF 2200 turned off.
When the SF 2200 is switched on, the dial mode is determined by the setting of one of one of the User
Options ( page 24 ). Like the T/P switch, this option comes set to tone, and needs to be changed only if
you wish to use pulses dialing when the SF 2200 is on. If you choose to change the switch or the option
setting, be sure to change both so that your SF 2200 always dials in the mode you expect.
