4-4 Polling
4-4-1 What's Polling?
"Polling" allows your SF 2200 to automatically request a document from an unattended fax machine, or
to automatically send a document when another fax machine polls your SF 2200
A "poll code " can be used to prevent unauthorized people from retrieving documents from your SF
2200. If you don't use a poll code, anyone who knows your fax number and has a poll-capable fax
machine can retrieve the loaded document.
To set up your poll code, press FUNCTION and 0, and follow the steps for setting up your Terminal ID
(see page 9). Select a four-digit number for your poll code.
When you use your SF 2200 to poll another fax machine to retrieve a document, if the remote fax has
been secured with a poll code, you must know that code to retrieve the document.
4-4-2 Polling Features of the SF 2200
Turnaround Poll : The SF 2200 automatically polls the remote fax immediately after sending a
document to it.
Poll Transmit : The SF 2200 has a document loaded and will send it to the first person who polls it. If
you have used a poll code, the person who calls to retrieve the document must know
the code.
Poll Receive : The SF 2200 polls a remote fax machine to retrieve a loaded document. If the r e m o t e
machine is secured with a poll code, you must know this code to retrieve the document.
