    MVX1000 is controlled by a Mobile Digital Video Recorder (mDVR) User Interface Application that runs on a Mobile Workstation or Mobile Laptop or by the LCD Control Head. The MVX1000 also serves as a client/server unit that communicates by wired or wireless LAN with the docking station for uploading the evidence files and downloading software updates.

    MVX1000 Unit Front Panel Description The front panel of the MVX1000 Unit supports basic functionality of the in-car system and can be used without a display when the unit is mounted within the view and reach of the officer. Otherwise, full functionality requires the MVX1000 LCD Control Head or mDVR User Interface Application (client) that runs on a compatible mobile workstation or laptop.
  • Page 22 Ready Indicator The Ready Indicator turns on after system boot-up is completed indicating that the MVX1000 is ready for use. The indicator also turns off for a brief period after upload operation indicating system reboot. Stream Indicator The Stream Indicator shows that the MVX1000 Unit is currently streaming real-time video through a wireless broadband uplink to Motorola's Real-time Video Intelligence (RTVI) system.

    System Description 1 - 7 MVX1000 Unit Rear Panel Description The rear panel is used to interface the MVX1000 Unit to in-car system accessories and peripherals. Figure 1-4 shows the accessories and peripherals connection to the rear panel of the MVX1000.

    The MVX1000 unit utilizes a 32GB or 64GB memory device called the Solid State Drive (SSD). basis, when LAN is not available, the SDD can be removed from the MVX1000 unit and docked inside SDD Adaptor Box inside the back office. The SDD Adaptor Box uploads the incident files to the MVX1000 Manual Upload Station for process in the Digital Multimedia Management System (DMMS).

    Chapter 2 Getting Started Software Application Installation Software installation is required only when the MVX1000 is to be operated from a Motorola Data Terminal (MDT) or a laptop. When using the MVX1000 LCD control head, software installation is not required. The mDVR User Interface Application is a Windows application that allows you to manage capture and play Digital Video.

    Turn the vehicle ignition key to Off position. Standby Mode When the vehicle engine is not running and the MVX1000 is not in use for a pre-defined time, the MVX1000 automatically powers off all unneeded sections of the system for saving battery power (including screen operation and LED indications).

    So, initially after first login a supervisor has to connect to the Local Area Network (LAN) of the back office for updating the MVX1000 system with a list of users with login rights.

    Chapter 3 mDVR User Interface Application This chapter explains what you need to do after turning on the MVX1000 Unit and how to control and manage the mDVR User Interface Application. While reading this chapter, you may observe that certain software functions have been IMPORTANT configured differently on your unit to meet the specific needs of your agency.

    Live View Frame changes from blue to red. • Press and release the Record Button (see Figure 1-3) on the front panel of the MVX1000. When recording starts, the LED on the Record Button changes from Blue to red.

    3 - 6 MVX1000 In-Car Digital Video System User Guide - If recording stops and you are logged in as a “guest”, a message is issued enabling you to login NOTES and by doing so automatically associate the recorded incident with your user account. If this message is rejected, and you do not login as user within a few minuets, the recorded incident will be lost.

    NIC_1_VPN This function terminates the VPN tunnel for data from and to the MVX1000. It de-capsulates the data from MVX1000 and routes it to appropriate server/elements at the back office. It also starts the VPN tunnel for data destined to MVX1000 and encapsulates in appropriate format.

    mDVR User Interface Application 3 - 13 Camera Preview Thumbnails Camera Preview Thumbnails display live video from all available camera sources. A thumbnail with a red border and a Recording label represent cameras being recorded. When Camera 1 is selected and displayed on the Live View Frame, the user can toggle between Camera 1 and any of the other camera(s), whether or not they are being recorded, by tapping on its thumbnail image.

    The pre-recording buffer time is set by your agency (up to three minutes). Date and Time The MVX1000 displays the current date and time. The MVX1000 date and time is continuously synchronized with the time signal received from its GPS module, for absolute time accuracy and time zone offset.

    Remaining Record Time The MVX1000 can store approximately 30 or 60 hours to 27 or 56 hours of video, audio and metadata from one camera set for 30 fps, on a 32GB or 64GB SSD, respectively. The Remaining Record Time field displays the total remaining recording time left on the SSD memory.

    Indication Description Wired Connection Found: The wired connection indication is displayed when wired connection between the MVX1000 Unit inside the vehicle and the back office server is recognized.     3 - 22 MVX1000 In-Car Digital Video System User Guide Information Tab The Information Tab displays general patrol information about the speed of the target vehicle, read from speed radar. The Information Tab also displays GPS fix during the incident.

    The Sensors Tab screen displays sensors (input devices) information recorded during an incident. Sensors installed inside the vehicle trigger recording and provide metadata to the MVX1000 for pre and post event evidentiary purposes. The MVX1000 automatically creates a notification in the playback timeline each time a signal is received from a sensor.

Before using the MVX1000 LCD Control Head, make sure you are familiar with the specific configuration changes made for your system.

    4 - 2 MVX1000 In-Car Digital Video System User Guide Power On In most configurations, the MVX1000 system starts automatically when the vehicle ignition key is in "Acc" or "Run" position. To power on: Step 1. Turn the vehicle ignition key to On position.

    Logout To logout from the MVX1000 system: Step 1. Tap the Logout Button on the application screen. The MVX1000 pops up a dialog box to confirm the operation. Step 2. Tap to confirm logout.

    This chapter describes the default configuration of the MVX1000. Access to some features NOTE described in this chapter may be limited by your agency.
  • Page 71 MVX1000 LCD Control Head 4 - 5 12. Streaming LED Indicator - The Stream Indicator shows that the MVX1000 Unit is currently streaming real-time video to a remote dispatch. This Real-time Video Intelligence (RTVI) feature can only be activated by the remote dispatch. Using RTVI ensures uninterrupted real-time transmission of video to allow agencies make key decisions prior to arrival at the scene of the incident.

    Tapping the Report Data to Incident Button enables to add a report to the incident recording once recording is completed. The MVX1000 continuously buffers recording cameras for a programmable time, up to the last 3 minutes. Tap the 10 Second Rewind Timeline Button to review these buffered records from the selected camera.

    4 - 7 Record Incident Recording can start manually by pressing the control button on the MVX1000 unit, LCD Control Head or Wireless Microphone. Recording can also start automatically from a sensor(s) installed inside the car. When recording starts, a single or a selection of cameras start recording. During recording, you can select and add a non recording camera to the recording.

    The Report Screen allows you to enter information related to the incident. The information is saved as metadata evidence of the incident. If the MVX1000 is connected to a Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) running the Motorola PremierOne application, the Import from P1 Mobile button will display on the screen. The Import from P1 Mobile button enables to import events from the PremierOne application to the MVX1000.
