Precautions

This section describes the precautions regarding the submaster function.
Support for the submaster function
All the master/local modules on a network where the submaster function is used must support the submaster function. To
check the support for the submaster function, refer to the following.
 User's manual for the master/local module used
Parameter processing of a slave station from a submaster station
To execute the parameter processing of a slave station from a submaster station using the engineering tool, set the
parameters of the submaster station as follows.
1.
Select "Operate with Parameter of Host Station" for "Submaster Parameters" in "Basic Settings".
2.
Set "Network Configuration Settings" under "Basic Settings".
Number of submaster stations
Set only one submaster station on one network. If multiple submaster stations are set, an error occurs in the submaster
station. If a submaster station is added to a network with a submaster station connected, an error occurs only in the added
submaster station.
Functions that can be used
Functions that can be used differ between master operating stations and submaster operating stations.

Master operating station
Submaster operating station
For the functions that can be used in the CC-Link IE Field Network diagnostics, refer to the following.
Page 223 Checking the Network Status
Output of a slave station
When the control is switched between the master station and the submaster station, the output of a slave station is held.
Safety communication function (when the Safety CPU is used)
When the submaster function is used, the safety communication function cannot be used in a system using the safety CPU.
Safety communication function (when the SIL2 Process CPU is used)
When the submaster function is used, the safety communication function can be used only when the system uses the SIL2
Process CPU and the master station is redundant.
CC-Link IE Field Network diagnostics
Connecting the master operating station to the engineering tool allows that the status of the entire network can be checked. If
the status of the slave station or submaster station cannot be checked due to a cable disconnection and other reasons,
directly connect the slave station or submaster station to the engineering tool that supports these stations.
Temporary error invalid station setting in the submaster station
Do not set the temporary error invalid station setting in the submaster station operating as a master operating station. The
setting is ignored.
