Hardware Installation and Connection
This chapt er shows you how t o inst all and connect t he Swit ch.
2.1 Freestanding Installation

Make sure t he Swit ch is clean and dry.

Set t he Swit ch on a sm oot h, level surface st rong enough t o support t he weight of t he Swit ch and
t he connect ed cables. Make sure t here is a power out let nearby.

Make sure t here is enough clearance around t he Swit ch t o allow air circulat ion and t he at t achm ent
of cables and t he power cord.

Rem ove t he adhesive backing from t he rubber feet .

At t ach t he rubber feet t o each corner on t he bot t om of t he Swit ch. These rubber feet help prot ect
t he Swit ch from shock or vibrat ion and ensure space bet ween devices when st acking.

Not e: Do NOT block t he vent ilat ion holes. Leave space bet w een devices when st acking.
Not e: For proper vent ilat ion, allow at least 4 inches ( 10 cm ) of clearance at t he front and
3.4 inches ( 8 cm ) at t he back of t he Swit ch. This is especially im por t ant for
enclosed rack inst allat ions.
