Customizing Your System

Now that you have installed your Office PhoneMail system, you customize it by providing it with
information that is unique to your business (such as the name of your company, your normal
business hours, the names of your employees, and so on).
Your employees should be responsible for customizing their own mailboxes (including creating
mailbox passwords, recording and spelling their names for the company directory, and record-
ing a personal greeting to callers who reach their mailboxes). For more information on perform-
ing these tasks, see the Office PhoneMail User Guide .
As system administrator, you are responsible for customizing Office PhoneMail automated an-
swering services and other attributes. This chapter shows you how to customize Office Phone-
Mail. Specifically, it shows you how to:
Access the system administration menu from your own mailbox.
Record two customized company greetings for the Auto Attendant (for day and night-time
answering).
Initialize an information mailbox (and record an informational message).
Set CCR destinations.
Set up a fax-on-demand mailbox.
Specify the phone number that will appear in the header of faxed documents.
Set up the cover page that will preface all faxed documents.
Set the maximum number of fax-on-demand documents that can be sent in the same ses-
sion.
Enable or disable automatic deletion of messages after 21 days.

Accessing the System Administration Menu After Your Own
Mailbox is Enabled
To customize your system, you will need to access the system administration menu. The first
time you accessed the system administration menu, you had to do so from the only then-en-
abled mailbox, the general delivery mailbox. Now that you have enabled your own mailbox as
described in Section 6.5, "Enabling Office PhoneMail Mailboxes", on page 6-6, you can perform
system administration functions from your own mailbox — or, indeed, from any enabled sub-
scriber mailbox.
