Main Screen

You do not need to touch the main screen, and should try to not do so. Fingerprints can
permanently damage the main screen if they are not removed. If the screen gets fingerprints,
grime, dust, or water on it (or for that matter, red wine, spaghetti sauce, or mustard), you
should clean it.
The main screen has a scratch-resistant coating, but it is possible to scratch the screen, so you
should clean it carefully. Keeping the screen clean in the first place is a better strategy than
cleaning it. You should clean it infrequently, not often.

Touch Screen

The touch screen is meant for touching, but you should also clean it. You might clean it after
several days of use, or if you notice the screen needs cleaning.

Cover

You can purchase an optional cover for your nook at your local Barnes & Noble retail store or
online from BN.com. The cover helps protect your nook from daily wear and tear. For
example, it keeps dust from accumulating on the screens, reducing the need to clean them. It
provides some protection against spills.
For more information about the cover, see the section "Cover" in the chapter "Accessories."
