Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) Terminals
Some NURIT terminals are equipped with transceivers that can
access Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN), which are often
used for short-range wireless communications in home and
office environments, retail stores, restaurants, and gasoline
stations. The terminals commonly connect to the WLAN via a
Wi-Fi access point or repeater.
Several types of WLAN communication standards exist. NURIT
WLAN terminals are equipped with transceivers that comply
with the IEEE 802.11b (Wi-Fi) standard.
•
Verify that all the Wi-Fi access points and repeaters comply
with this standard.
•
Locate the access point or repeater as close as possible to
the area where the NURIT WLAN terminals are to be
operated.
(Follow
instructions and guidelines of the Wi-Fi access points or
repeaters.)
•
If the NURIT WLAN terminals are used over a defined area,
such as within a restaurant or retail store, the Wi-Fi access
point or repeater should be located as close as possible to
the center of this area.
•
If the area where the NURIT WLAN terminals are used
exceeds the maximum range for Wi-Fi reception, install
additional access points or repeaters as required.
•
Do not locate the Wi-Fi access point or repeater where
metal
objects
or
electrical
communication with the terminals.
