Before You Call for Service

Surface burner fails to light.
• Check or re-set circuit breaker. Check or
replace fuse.
Check power supply.
• Check to be sure burner ports or ignition
ports are not clogged.
• Check to be sure ignitor is dry and click-
ing. Burner will not light if ignitor is
damaged, soiled or wet. If ignitor doesn't
click, turn control knob OFF.
• Check that the gas supply is on.
Surface burner flame lifts off
ports.
• Check to be sure a pan is sitting on the
grate above.
• Contact an authorized Amana servicer.
The flame is uneven.
• Burner ports may be clogged.
• Flame may need to be adjusted. Contact
an authorized Amana servicer.
Surface burner flame is yellow
in color.
• Some yellow tips on the flame are ac-
ceptable when using LP gas.
Popping sound heard when
burner extinguishes.
• This is a normal sound that occurs with
some types of gas when a hot burner is
turned off. The popping sound is not a
safety hazard and will not damage the
appliance.
A gas odor is present.
Because of vibrations due to travel, connec-
tions on a recreational vehicle may loosen.
Therefore, periodically check all connec-
tions for leaks.
• Check for a possible leak or loose fit-
tings.
• NEVER use a match or flame to check
for leaks. See warning boxes on page 1.
• See the installation instructions for
proper procedures on leak testing.
