• Remove the steering stem nut using the special tool.
09940-14911: Steering stem nut wrench
• Draw out the steering stem lower bracket.
NOTE:
Hold the steering stem lower bracket to prevent it from fal-
ling.
• Remove the dust seal
and upper bearing
• Remove the lower bearing
• Remove the ignition switch
09930-11920: Torx bit JT40H
09930-11940: Bit holder
INSPECTION
Inspect the removed parts for the following abnormalities.
* Handlebar distortion
* Handlebar clamp wear
* Race wear and brinelling
* Bearing wear or damage
* Abnormal bearing noise
* Distortion of the steering stem
• Remove the lower bearing outer race
