AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
FLUID LEVEL
The
fl uid
level in the automatic transm ission shou ld
be
checked at
the mileage interva ls indicated in the Scheduled Maintenance Services
Chart.
We
suggest
that
you have your
dealer
make
this
check
because
of
the
severa
l
steps
which
are involved
in
obta
in
ing an accurate
reading.
If in an
eme
rgency,
you
are
requ
ired to check the
fluid
leve
l
yourself.

engine and
run
it
until
normal
operat
ing tempera-
tures and
engine idling conditions
are
stabilized.
Then,
apply
th
e
brakes
and
move
the transmission sh
ift
lever through all
drive positions
and place
the lever
in
park (" P") position.
Wit

leve
l indicator
cap. w ithd raw
the

l
level
indicator
from
the
transmission filler
tu
be and
wipe
the fl
uid
from the
end of
t
he
indicator.

Fluid lev el

ld
be
between
the
"A
DD" and
" FULL"
mark
on the
indicator.
Th

has a lock-on
type

must be
tur
ned
to release
the dipstick.
Make
sure the
locking cap is all
the
way
down
w hen
measuring
flu id
level.
CAUTION:
Do
not fill above the "FULL"
mark. See Specifi
-
cations
Section for
recommended
f
l
uid.

POWER STEERING RESERVOIR
FLUID
LEVEL-Start the engine and
t urn
the
steering wheel back and
forth
severa
l
times
to
expel any air that may
be
trapped in the system.
The
eng ine and power steering
fluid
shou ld be at
normal
operating
temperature. Stop
the engine and observe fluid leve
l
on the dipstick.
Maintain
flu
id leve
l
at the " FULL" mark.
