nut.

8. Raise the deck struts and secure them in the up
position. Slide the deck out to the right side of the
machine.

Replacing the Grass Deflector

WARNING
An uncovered discharge opening could allow the
lawn mower to throw objects at you or a bystander
result in serious injury or death.
Never operate the lawn mower unless you install a
cover plate, a mulch plate, grass deflector or bagger.
1. Remove the locknut, bolt, spring, and spacer holding
the deflector to the pivot brackets

Remove damaged or worn grass deflector.

3. Place spacer and spring onto grass deflector. Place 1
J-end of spring behind deck edge.
Note: Ensure one J-end of spring is installed behind
deck edge before installing the bolt as shown in
100.
4. Install bolt and nut. Place one J-hook end of spring
around grass deflector
Important: The grass deflector must be able
to rotate. Lift the deflector up to the full open
position and ensure that it rotates into the full
down position.
