System Software Kit
The RIP Station 5000 System Software Service Kit enables you to reformat the hard disk
drive (HDD) and reinstall system software. Use this kit when:
• You replace the RIP Station 5000 HDD
• You replace the motherboard
• You upgrade to a more recent version of the system software
The system software kit provides the system software and fonts on a CD.
Control Panel screens for installing the system software are always displayed in English
even if the RIP Station 5000 is configured for another language.
Installing system software deletes the list of jobs in the Job Log and any jobs in the

queues. The system administrator at the customer site can save a current list of jobs (not
the actual job) from the Job Log using the Fiery Spooler.
System software can be installed either from a prepared PC-compatible computer or from
a SCSI CD-ROM drive. The CD-ROM drive connects to the SCSI interface connector
on the back of the RIP Station 5000. The PC-compatible computer connects to the
parallel port connector on the back of the RIP Station 5000. See Figure 4-25.
